Overview

In March 2025, PDCC Limited conducted the Baseline Study for the TRALIDE Project, a three year programme funded by the Wilde Ganzen Foundation through AFARD. The initiative seeks to transform the labour market in Nebbi District by expanding productive opportunities for 600 married youth (50% women) in the agricultural sector.

TRALIDE applies a family centred approach, organising youth into 15 Youth Agribusiness Groups (YAGs) and equipping them with entrepreneurial mindsets, vocational and life skills, financial literacy, start up kits and agribusiness development services. The project goal is that by 2027, these young people will own and operate resilient agri-enterprises, ensuring decent self employment and sustainable livelihoods.

Study Objectives

PDCC’s Baseline Study was designed to:

  • Establish evidence based benchmarks for project monitoring and evaluation.

  • Assess the baseline status of key performance indicators.

  • Identify critical strategies to strengthen project implementation.

  • Populate the TRALIDE project log frame to guide future M&E plans.

Scope and Deliverables

The study covered Nebbi District with married youth as the main focus group. PDCC delivered:

  1. Inception Report

  2. Draft and Final Baseline Study Reports

These outputs now serve as a foundation for effective tracking of TRALIDE’s outcomes over the project period (2025–2027).

Impact

The baseline study equips AFARD and partners with:

  • A robust framework for monitoring youth entrepreneurship and agribusiness development.

  • Evidence to guide strategy adjustments and ensure greater project impact.

  • A clear roadmap to achieve the project’s goal of 600 resilient youth led enterprises by 2027.
