Action Research

Consulting Area: Development Research – Poverty Studies

At PDCC, we use Action Research as a practical approach to tackling poverty and inequality. Unlike traditional research, action research is participatory — it involves working directly with communities, local leaders, and organisations to identify problems, test solutions, and learn from real-life experiences.

Key features of our Action Research include:

  • Community participation – empowering local people to be part of the research and solution-finding process.

  • Problem identification – focusing on real challenges faced by households such as food insecurity, unemployment, poor health services, or limited market access.

  • Testing solutions – piloting new ideas, practices, or technologies and tracking their results.

  • Learning by doing – documenting lessons, adapting strategies, and scaling up what works.

  • Capacity building – strengthening local knowledge and leadership so communities can sustain the change.

This approach ensures that findings are practical, relevant, and immediately usable to improve livelihoods and reduce poverty. It also builds ownership among communities and increases the likelihood of long-term success.

Partner with PDCC to design participatory Action Research that delivers solutions grounded in community realities.
