Overview

In August 2024, PDCC Limited was commissioned by the Agency for Accelerated Regional Development (AFARD) to prepare a three year business plan (2024–2026) for Alwi Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (AMCSL).

AMCSL, founded in 2023 by seven smallholder farmer groups, is a registered producer cooperative with 160 members (61 men and 99 women) engaged in cassava production and processing. The business plan provides a roadmap to transform AMCSL into a leading supplier of high quality cassava products (HQC) in Northern Uganda, while promoting climate-smart agriculture practices.

The plan sets an ambitious goal of generating UGX 616,133,540 in revenue by December 2026 through enhanced production, value addition and improved access to markets.


Key Features of the Business Plan

  • Production growth: From 345,600 kg (Year 1) to 756,000 kg (Year 3) of cassava products.
  • Market focus: Supplying processed cassava to buyers, hotels, restaurants, schools and institutions across West Nile and Northern Uganda.
  • Member capacity building: Training in agronomy, mechanisation, post-harvest handling, and climate-smart farming.
  • Governance structure: A 9 member Board supported by 8 committees and a technical/management team.
  • Financial strategy: UGX 408,146,967 required, UGX 1.4M contributed by members, balance financed through retained earnings and external loans.
  • Projected profits: UGX 616,133,540 by the end of the business plan period.
